Mom’s Banana Nut Bread

It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall around here, and you know what adds to that feeling? Baking! My mom used to always whip up this bread when we found bananas turning black on the counter. That’s the perfect kind for banana bread! This year I’ve been buying bananas to purposely let die on the counter just so I can make this. It’s that good! Happy baking! 😉

Mom’s Banana Bread

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp sour milk or buttermilk
3 ripe bananas, mashed well
3 eggs
1/2 cup pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream the butter and sugar together. In a separate bowl, mix together dry ingredients. Slowly incorporate them with the creamed butter and sugar. Add milk, mix together, and then add the bananas and mix again. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing between additions. Stir in pecans.

Split between 2 greased and floured loaf pans. Bake loaves for 1 hour. Remove from pans and allow to cool on racks.
